How to Get Your Property & Casualty License

You must complete approved coursework, depending on the line of authority. A prep course helps you master the material and get ready to pass on your first try.

2. Schedule and Pass the State Exam

Register for the California licensing exam through PSI Services. Bring proper identification and earn a 60% passing score to move forward.

3. Complete Your Background Check

California requires fingerprinting. Your fingerprints are submitted to the California Department of Insurance as part of your background check.

4. Apply for Your License

Submit your application through NIPR. Pay the required fees and make sure your fingerprints and exam results have been successfully transmitted to the state.
