Florida’s state licensing exam is based on study manuals approved by the Florida Department of Financial Services. While this course is designed to align with those approved materials, students must obtain the most current edition of the applicable Florida study manual for additional reference and exam preparation. There are four steps:

1. Complete your pre-licensing course — The hours required depend on the license type (30–200 hours)

3. Get fingerprinted — Submit electronic fingerprints through IdentoGO for your background check
4. Apply for your license — Submit your application through the Florida Department of Financial Services

Once approved, you'll need to get appointed by an insurance company before you can start selling.

They cover completely different types of risk, and attract different types of clients:

• Life & Health protects people — life insurance, health coverage, Medicare, annuities, and long-term care. You'll help individuals and families plan for the future.
• Property & Casualty (called General Lines in Florida) protects things — homes, cars, businesses, and liability exposure. You'll work with homeowners, renters, drivers, and business owners.

Not sure which to choose? If you want to get licensed fast and build long-term client relationships, start with Life & Health. If you want higher transaction volume and steady renewals, go with General Lines. Want maximum flexibility? The All-in-One bundle covers both.

Florida sets the pre-licensing requirements for each license type:

• Life & Health: 60 hours
• General Lines (Property & Casualty): 200 hours

When you finish, you'll be prepared to sit for both state exams and pursue all four lines of authority: life, health, property, and casualty.
