Finish Your California CE Fast and Renew with Confidence

CA insurance agents and brokers licensed to sell life, accident and health, property, casualty, or personal lines insurance are required to:

• Complete 24 credit hours of continuing education courses approved by the California Department of Insurance (CDI) during each two-year license renewal period.
• Three of these hours must be applied to an ethics courseContinuing Education Why Ethics Ce Matters For California Insurance Agents Resources, one hour of which must be designated for anti-fraud training.
• Agents and brokers who only have a limited-lines auto insurance license must complete at least 20 hours of continuing education during each two-year license renewal period. Three of these hours must be applied to the ethics course with the anti-fraud training.

*Licenses who sell variable life insurance must complete a 2-hour variable life insurance training course every 2 years. 

*Licensees who sell annuities or long-term care insurance must complete 4-hour training courses about those products every 2 years.

Anyone who is 70 years of age or older and has been a California licensee in good standing for 30 continuous years is exempt from CE requirements.

Licensees who do not live in California (non-resident license holders) can renew their California licenses by meeting their home state's CE requirements. If your home state does not require CE, you must take California CE courses.

CDI requires a reporting fee for all CE courses (currently $0.65 per credit hour). This fee is added to your tuition and collected during enrollment.

We report the completed credit hours to CDI for you.
