How to Get Your Property & Casualty License

1. Enroll in Your Course

You must complete state-approved pre-licensing education, with required hours varying by line of authority. A pre-licensing course helps you master the material and get ready to pass on your first try.

2. Schedule and Pass the State Exam

Register for the Florida insurance licensing exam through Pearson VUE. Bring proper identification and your course completion certificate. You must earn a passing score to move forward.

3. Complete Your Background Check

Florida requires fingerprinting. Your fingerprints are submitted to the Florida Department of Financial Services as part of your background check.

4. Apply for Your License

Submit your application through NIPR. Pay the required fees and make sure your fingerprints and exam results have been successfully transmitted to the state.

5. Start Your Insurance Career

Once approved, you'll receive your license from the Florida Department of Financial Services. After that, you're officially authorized to begin selling insurance in Florida.
