Select your preferred date, time, and location (or confirm remote testing). Exam appointments are typically available within a few days, with some locations offering next-day availability.
Schedule at least two days in advance to ensure appointment availability. You can cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before your appointment time without penalty.

Prepare for Exam Day

What to Expect During the Exam
Washington insurance exams are multiple choice, delivered on computer. Each exam includes scored questions plus unscored "pretest" questions being evaluated for future use. You won't know which questions are scored, so treat every question seriously.
Time limits vary by exam type but generally provide adequate time for careful candidates. Pace yourself to review all questions before submitting.
You'll receive your pass/fail result immediately upon completing the exam, along with a score report showing your performance by topic area. If you pass, you can proceed to the license application process. If not, the score report helps focus your preparation for a retake.
After Passing
Passing your exam is a significant accomplishment, but you're not done yet. Your exam score is valid for 180 days. Within that window, you must complete fingerprinting, submit your license application through NIPR, and pay application fees.
