How to Get Your Life & Health License
1. Prepare for the State Licensing Exam
Pennsylvania does not require pre-licensing education, but the exam is challenging. A prep course gives you the tools and confidence to pass on your first try.
2. Schedule and Pass the State Exam
Register for the Pennsylvania licensing exam through PSI. You'll need a passing score to move forward.
3. Get Fingerprinted
Schedule fingerprinting through the PA Insurance Department website. Your fingerprints will be submitted to the PA Insurance Department as part of your background check.
4. Apply for Your License
Submit your license application to the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance via NIPR. You’ll need to pay the application fee and upload the required documents.
5. Start Your Insurance Career
Once approved, you’ll receive your license from the PA Insurance Department and can begin selling insurance in Pennsylvania.
