How to Get Your Life & Health License
1. Prepare for the State Licensing Exam
Missouri does not require pre-licensing education, but the exam is challenging. A prep course gives you the tools and confidence to pass on your first try.
2. Schedule and Pass the State Exam
Register for the Missouri licensing exam through Pearson VUE. You'll need a passing score to move forward.
3. Complete Your Background Check
The Missouri Department of Insurance reviews your background as part of the licensing process. You won’t need fingerprinting, but any criminal history may require additional documentation.
4. Apply for Your License
Submit your license application to the Missouri Department of Insurance via NIPR. You’ll need to pay the application fee and upload the required documents.
5. Start Your Insurance Career
Once approved, you’ll receive your license from the MO Insurance Department and can begin selling insurance in Missouri.
